Hello and welcome to our page!
Let us start by introducing ourselves. Our names are Alvin and Tom. We are both second-year CEGEP students and experienced competitive swimmers. Although our backgrounds and hobbies differ, we strongly believe in our communities' well-being, particularly in universal and accessible healthcare and vital funding for medical research.
With these values in mind, we have decided to team up to raise awareness and funds for The Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation and Sainte-Justine’s hospital.
Indeed, as future generations, children of all ages and backgrounds should be allowed every chance to grasp their future and pursue their dreams, no matter the health conditions they are battling. This requires resources and awareness to support medical research, innovation and essential treatments, and provide the best possible care for children and their families.
*Also, a special thought to Malik, a swimmer in Alvin’s swim team and a warrior among many who is currently fighting against cancer.*
For this fundraiser, we will swim a combined 100 km in open water within 3 days. We plan to swim laps in the Meech Lake, about 16km/day each. Weather permitting, starting on August 15th 2024.
This is also a test run for next summer in 2025, where we hope to achieve an even bigger feat for charity: swimming 100 km in the Ottawa River, from Gatineau to Hawkesbury.
We hope our efforts will help our communities take a step forward, and we appreciate your support on this journey!
Sincerely,
Alvin and Tom.
