The Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) of Montreal was established on December, 1992. For the over 30 years, under the cumulative efforts of its members and the guidance of the Venerables, BLIA of Montreal has planted the roots of Humanistic Buddhism in the multicultural city of Montreal by upholding the BLIA objectives. BLIA of Montreal has 6 subchapters: North, East, Southwest, Puti and English Subchapter, as well as the Young Adult Division, made especially for the Mandarin and non-Chinese speakers; there are over 200 members in total. The Association promotes a wide variety of activities; they include those in arts and culture, to raise members’ self-development; in education through talks and forums, to provide members’ with lifelong learning opportunities, in charitable work to serve our communities. These activities become a form of cultivation that can purify the mind, while incorporating both Chinese and Western culture and creating a harmony among the traditional and modern.
