Kristen Maither Tribute Fund
Donate Now
Kristen Maither began her journey at the Montreal Children's Hospital at a very young age. At just two years old, she was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis. Throughout her childhood, Kristen underwent a series of surgeries on her spine and treatments on her optic nerve to remove benign tumors, and therefore spent much time at the Montreal Children's. Her medical treatment continued into adulthood, when at the age of 19, Kristen was diagnosed with soft-tissue sarcoma, a form of cancer. After a courageous battle, Kristen passed on December 9, 2015, at 23 years old.
Despite the many visits to the hospital and the endless treatments that she underwent, Kristen was nothing shy of remarkable. No matter the obstacle, she overcame it. Kristen's health issues did not keep her from living an otherwise normal life. As a student, she was able to go on field trips to Prince Edward Island and New York City, be the editor of her high school yearbook, and be an ambassador for her school. Kristen attended John Abbott College, earning a DEC in Creative Arts, Language and Literature, and Algonquin College, where she followed her heart to Radio Broadcasting, graduating in 2013. As a young adult, Kristen attended many concerts, went camping, volunteered, and always was surrounded by her family and friends - a true social butterfly.
This tribute fund had been set up as just one way to honour a very special woman. Kristen was kind, generous to a fault, and lived every single day of her 23 years. We miss her dearly.
